Love staying here! Such a cozy and elegant space. Winter days were quiet and perfect for my husband, myself and our 2 pups. Looking forward to staying here during warmer months too, so we may experience the courtyard activated. Highly recommend
Great hotel - clean, aesthetically pleasing, awesome service from staff. We booked a dog friendly room and they had bowls and anything else we needed. Very happy with our stay.
Oh boy. Just like the Wyman hotel, found a burnt American flag draped over the bed frame as soon as I walked in. A sight to behold. They really know their service. Everyone was super nice to me. Except Chester. He wouldn't stop kicking me every time he saw me. Even when I had a one-on-one sit down talk with him about how I actually don't think it's funny to be kicked, he proceeded to kick me. Honestly, I think he enjoys it, since he keeps laughing every time. But other than that the service was phenomenal. The shower had great water pressure, even though sometimes it wasn't water that came out but I can handle sticky situations well so I got over that quickly. Can I just say something. I don't understand how the management hired a man like Chester to work at this hotel. He kept throwing things at me when I was eating in the lobby. No one even noticed. I felt crazy. I know for a fact he was throwing things at me, but every time I asked him to stop, he would just proceed to kick me and laugh and skip away. What is he doing? Sorry, I just had a lot of negative experiences with Chester that got in the way of my amazing vacation. Speaking of, the breakfast was amazing. The food was top-tier breakfast food and even the dinner had a great spin on it every night. OK, one last thing about Chester. I found his name tag in my room one morning after I got back from a night out with some colleagues. My wife, who was staying with me, said she doesn't know how it got there. The fact that she was there all night and didn't see how Chester's nametag got into the room makes me think that he's sneaking in and messing with my things when we're not in there. I confronted him about it the next day and he just laughed at me again. I feel like Chester might have some emotional issues, so I am gonna go easy on him, but he did hinder my joy throughout the trip. Unfortunately, I need to go to marriage counseling now, so I am going to end my review here. Thank you for such a great time! I loved the stay, and hopefully Chester can get the help he needs!
We had an absolutely amazing experience. I am always a little hesitant to go away from the norm and try places that aren't backed by a chain or part of my usual travel habits, and I am so glad that I did, this time! This was such a great place. The mattress and pillows were fabulous! I mean, I have never slept away from home more comfortably than here, and I have back and orthopedic issues. It is a quaint, small place that is run by only a small staff, which is totally perfect, since it's not a large establishment. You have the feel of being personally cared for. I felt the Rochester has done a lovely job of coupling new technology (apple TVs, text communication, virtual check in, keycode doors) with the old, vintage, historic feel that is appropriate, given the building and local area. The rooms were beautifully appointed with luxury items, both antique pieces, as well as modern appliances and quality products. The complimentary breakfast and beverages provided were a wonderful touch and made it feel like home. Truly, the only thing that I wish they had was an elevator, but given the age of the building, that is likely not practical at all. I believe there were only two floors of rooms, so not really moot and there was someone at the ready to carry bags, if we needed it. I'm sure there were some rooms on the first floor if someone couldn't go upstairs. Just overall a perfect stay and so reasonable for the price. We loved it!
Had the best stay of our two week road trip here last June. No reservation, just looking for a place to stay for one night that allowed dogs. The Strater was booked and recommended we call the Rochester, so glad we did! They had one dog friendly room available that night. Comfortable beds, nice linens, luxurious toiletries. Such a good nights sleep. We also really appreciated the hospitality of beer & wine upon arrival and a nice breakfast in the garden. Highly recommend and hope to be back!
Favorite place I have ever stayed!!! We booked here last minute this week. Needed a place that would take a Newfie puppy and was ideally downtown. It was a bit outside our budget but worth every single penny. The room was perfect, the bed was to die for (best night of sleep I’ve had in a long time), the courtyard was perfect for sitting in the sun and drinking a Happy Hour Rosè. Perfect location downtown but not surrounded by loud bars. We cannot wait to go back!
Great stay! The hotel is quaint with a nice little lobby/bar and a lovely outdoor patio area (lucked out with some live music). Staff was friendly and helpful! The room was good size, beds were comfortable and the shower was much better than normal hotels. Overall, definitely recommend! My only minor gripe was some weird noise that sounded like wind blowing through a vent, that was pretty annoying, but hopefully it was just that specific room we were in.
Just booked a room for July in Durango and was helped by Kristina which was super friendly and very efficient.

Unfortunately, our trip is about over. Our expectations were met in all categories with friendly and happy people! Even the owner is actively present ensuring everyone is happy. The hotel is in excellent shape and feels like a home environment. They have a great continual breakfast in the main lobby with excellent pastries. They even put out snacks for a grab to go throughout the day (Nice touch). Then after a hard day of exploring Durango, they have a bar and the first drink is free! It truly has been a great experience.
